In 1996 the world´s largest SnowCastle was built in Kemi, Northern Finland. Since then the Castle has been an exciting and exotic tourist attraction, known worldwide as one of the most distinguished ice castles in the world. This year the castle holds an exciting Lapponia 50 years anniversary exhibition. Lapponia is celebrating in the arctic surrounding The anniversary celebration for Lapponia has began at Kemi Snowcastle on January 30th, 2010. For Lapponia the kick-off for the anniversary year in Northern Finland is a very natural choice, since the pioneer of jewelry art, Mr. Björn Weckström of Lapponia, drew his inspiration from the shapes and matt surface of gold nuggets from Finnish Lapland. The exhibition in Kemi will introduce the beloved Lapponia pieces such as Space Silver, Eterno rings, Opera and Limited series together with the Vintage collection. | Snow and ice art at its best The ice sculptures for this year have been designed and carried out by a Finnish Frostiart company. This year Lapponia jewelry pieces have been the source of inspiration for the ice sculptures. The sculptures are illuminated with high-quality LED lights. The SnowCastle-season began on the 31st of January 2010 and ends the 12th of April 2010, weather permitting. The SnowCastle is open during the season daily from 10 am – 7 pm. Every year the SnowCastle is different and full of exciting experiences, as the SnowCastle is built anew at the beginning of each winter-season. Welcome!
